The Alliance is committed to serve the Hospice and Palliative provider and industry with greater oversight of the regulatory and legislative issues the affect end of life care. The organization was the created through the efforts of the Louisiana/Mississippi Hospice and Palliative Care organization and the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization. It was determined that need existed however the limitations of the LMHPCO to provide such advocacy opportunity was limited. Therefore the Alliance sought the status of a federally recognized 501c4. Under this the Alliance is allowed to receive donations and contributions that will assist in supporting lobbyist and consultants in both Mississippi and Louisiana to affect changes in the current laws as well as identify those regulatory conditions that may impede the Hospice provider from providing the very best in end of life care.
